The Last Hunter (1980) Adding & Correcting ADDED
Notorious German company Best Entertainment released and re-released this in countless versions: Special Uncut Version (the only one which is listed on the site), new version, standard versions, with various slightly different covers, in a steelbox, together with other movies in boxes called "War collection" or "War film collection" etc. etc.
Strange thing, for two different releases they used two different versions - not common for a cheap company like Best Entertainment which usually uses one version and releases it over and over again.
So, in this post I add more information to the version already listed which is not complete (additions in bold text), I add another release by Best Entertainment not yet listed (both with more screenshots so you can see the difference), and I also add another version not yet listed by Austrian company NSM Records.
I'm also adding pictures of the DVD cases, since these versions are ll out of print and they're not listed on Amazon anymore.

Judging by those screenshots, that is definitely NON-anamorphic. There is something that you are not understanding about the difference...Harry_Maynard wrote: Special Uncut Version

I can't exactly tell what is cropped or how much. There is that screenshot of David Warbeck's credit and it seem to be framed differently from the uncut version, but I wouldn't call it cropped. Could you explain a bit more?Harry_Maynard wrote: Standard Version

Looking at the screenshots you provided that's 2.35:1, is it not? Also, is the film have a windowboxed transfer throughout or just for the opening and ending credits?Harry_Maynard wrote: Austrian Special Uncut Edition

Re: The Last Hunter (1980) Adding & Correcting FAO Harry
Yes, I don't understand the whole aspect ratio thing. Not a bit. It's a closed book to me. And it doesn't interest me enough wanting to understand it.
So, without being dramatic about it, and not wanting to rob your time, I think there's only two options:
I'm not trying to guess it; I just provide Screenshots.
Or you kick me out. Simple as that.

The screenshots provided are helpful, we acknowledge that. It is a fairly simple process and I've written it out in the guide for aspect ratios and anamorphic/non-anamoprhic.
Anyway, please answer the other questions about the "cropped" and "windowboxed".

Re: The Last Hunter (1980) Adding & Correcting FAO Harry
Added the standard German release and updated the German LE for now.
The screenshots of the French opening titles and the English closing titles - is this for the Uncut version or the US version?
You listed the aspect ratio as 1.85;1 anamorphic, and the screenshots were 2.35:1 anamorphic with slight windowboxing.
The opening and closing are windowboxed, and does it stay the same for the entire movie being windowboxed, or is it only the credit sequences?
You listed the US version with optional German subtitles with a runtime of (92:16). Could you give us more info on this? The audio options, etc.
Questions about the Austrian release.Harry_Maynard wrote:Austrian Special Uncut Edition
