Runaway Train Blu-Rays vs Anchor Bay DVD UPDATED

Post by Oliver_Asmussen »

Hi.
Not sure where to post this one...
First off the Anchor Bay DVD has a Dolby Digital 4.0 AND a Dolby Digital 5.1 Audio Track

The, in regards to cuts this is interesting.

The UK DVD has on tiny cut when a police man falls under the train, which is documented on censorship.com.

What isn't documented is that there are a couple of differences between the Blu-Rays and at least the Anchor Bay DVD and apart from the one censorship cut possibly all other DVDs as well.

1. The Cannon Films logo is missing on the DVD.
2. The opening credits sequence looks completely different with alternating animations and background images and titles and some actors are not credited at all in the DVD version.
3. The known and documented death scene of the police officer.
4. During the next 4-5 minutes after the death scene there are at least 4 shots missing throughout the helicopter-chasing-the-train-scene as well as some shots shortened. All these are missing on the blu-ray versions, making the DVD version longer there.
5. The are different fades during the finale between the prisoners and Manny on the train, sometimes the DVD has hard cuts instead of fades.

There are also numerous tiny occasions with dialogue going over different shots and starting earlier or later, again with some shots longer and/or shorter from version to version.

Not sure what you can do with this, but I thought it is worth pointing out, that the Blu-Rays are cut differently to the DVD version and also missing some shots entirely as well as having some shortened shots and is therefore not uncut unless this is a case of domestic/international versions.

Cheers
