In progress. It's unlike Tai Seng to differ so wildly between their US and UK releases but here is where I got the US DVD specs from when I added the release in 2008 - http://www.dvdtalk.com/reviews/14931/es ... ng-island/

Added along with the Hong Kong release. Cheers Luke.

I think the interviews could be the same as the making of but can't confirm.

Not sure, as the HK release seems to be a mix of the two, with a making of, but the same audio options as UK.

I thought the film was decent. I hate when folks say you'll laugh so hard when it wasn't that kind of film for me. Just mildly funny in places and found the overall meaning more profound which I was not expecting.

Back to the specs lol, isn't PAL supposed to be a speed up of about 4 minutes, yet this is still close to 91 which is the given RT on imdb. Is this a botched conversion? I'm no expert so I could be wrong.

Also the cast and crew interviews definitely aren't a making of. It's more the cast just yabbering about the film then how they would get off HK Island. One guy said there is a footpath through a tunnel which I thought was rather hilarious, if true.

It could be, or it could even be NTSC.

Do you have VLC media player? If you put the disc on with that, you can look under codec and it will let you know if it is PAL or NTSC.

If that shows PAL, then are there picture issues? Did you get the effect as seen on screenshot 1 here:
http://dvdcompare.net/review.php?rid=3535

If not. Pause the film during a scene with motion. Then forward it frame by frame. Do you get an identical frame twice every second?

I initially did see interlacing but came up as PAL. The disc is sort of weird in that it has two film tracks you can select and multiple audio tracks for the extras even though they are all the same. Also you can select subtitles for the extras but they don't show as they are burnt-in anyway. It was very weird I just didn't want to point any of that out lol.

I'll check again and post back.

I can't take a shot of the two tracks but I'm certain it's just an authoring issue and it selects the same one.

Is this screenshot helpful? Does look awfully kak and the guy on the right seems his face is starting to leave lol.

Yep, very likely a NTSC->PAL transfer if you look at that combing (and coupled with the run time).
