OVERALL: Draw
-The 2025 Scream Factory CE includes both cuts of the film and an exclusive commentary.
-The UK release has a 4K restoration and 2 exclusive commentaries.
-The German Collector's Edition has an older transfer, with 2 differing exclusive commentaries, and some exclusive interviews/documentaries. Note that one of the commentaries is not English-friendly.
Versions:
- The original Unrated Version has an extra decapitation in the pier carnival scene.
- The US Theatrical Version cut this scene.
Notes about deleted scenes:
All releases have the same 7 untitled deleted scenes:
1) A woman swimming nude
2) A man & woman being attacked in a car
3) A little girl discovering a dead body on the beach
4) Dr. Susan Drake asking to borrow a coat
5) A woman getting attacked while fishing
6) A monster peering through a window
7) A group of men drinking in a bar
The Shout! Factory LE, 4K/Blu-ray CE, and UK releases, which use a 4K restoration of the film (the 2025 Shout! release has a newer restoration), also have a new scan of the deleted scenes. However, on these releases the set of deleted scenes are shorter because Scene 7 does not have the first 90 seconds that was included on the Shout! Factory AE and German releases.
In addition, the audio differs. Scenes 1, 6, & 7 are silent on all releases. Scenes 3 & 4 have full audio on all releases.
For Scene 2, the Shout! Factory LE, 4K/Blu-ray Combo, and UK releases are missing audio from the second half of the scene, while the Shout! Factory AE and German releases have audio for the entire scene.
For Scene 5, the Shout! Factory LE, 4K/Blu-ray combo pack, and UK releases have audio for the first half of the scene but not the second. The Shout! Factory AE and German releases have audio for the second half of the scene, but not the first. -
